Despite his mother and other people at the scene doing their best to try talking him out of it, a 26-year old man jumped off the fourth floor of the Bangsar Shopping Centre yesterday, dying instantly.
At about 1.30pm yesterday, Alif Alexander Faizal Weber was having lunch with his mother at the mall’s fourth floor food court when they started to argue.
As a consequence of their confrontation, Alif decided to jump off the fourth floor. His mother and mall employees nearby attempted to stop him from jumping, to no avail.
Brickfields OCPD Asst Comm Muhammad Azlee Abdullah told The Star Online the case has been classified as sudden death.
“Initial investigations revealed that there were no elements of foul play in Alif’s death,” he added.
ACP Muhammad Azlee said Alif had been receiving treatment for mental distress for about a year.
“He was studying at a local university, but stopped in his second year,” he said. “He was unemployed and would spend time exercising with his mother for company.”
Alif’s body was sent to the University Malaya Medical Centre for an autopsy.
