Man who dressed up as a suicide bomber for Halloween pleads guilty and pays RM400 fine

The man who had creatively, and socially uncomfortably, dressed up a suicide bomber for Halloween has been named and fined.

Amjad Jalal Ahmed Al Dahan, an IT professional from Yemen was fined RM400 (US$75) by a PJ magistrate. He had plead guilty to the offense.

On October 28, an unidentified, costumed, male terrified residents at Armanee Terrace Condominium in Damansara Perdana. Apparently, they did not get the memo it was Halloween, and promptly alerted police.

However, the fake beard, robe, keffiyeh, and cardboard circuit bomb were no match for the long-arm of the law: Channel News Asia have reported that two weeks after the fact, Amjad Jalal, 34, was picked up by officers.

They had appealed to local residents who may have had information by handing out a leaflet with the man in a costume that was good, but not THAT good, at hiding who he was.

While his attorney plead for leniency, the prosecution asked for a tough sentence, saying the actions were irresponsible, and that there was no way that the public could differentiate between his costume and the real thing.

With all due respect, the costume was wildly irresponsible – agreed. However, his bomb pack was a bunch of empty spritzer bottles guys, come on.
