Singing hopeful Elyana has hit back at online trolls who accused her of attention-seeking after she announced that she was battling stage 4 lymphoma as she made her farewell speech on reality show Gegar Vaganza last week.

She addressed some of their comments saying: “Thank you for insulting me. Thank you for wishing that I die quickly. Thank you for accusing me of seeking attention” via an Instagram post from the hospital.

She called the fiasco a public humiliation, and the mother-of-one added that the lack of empathy from netizens was astounding.

Her live declaration that the cancer had spread to her lungs left her legion of fans speechless, and she apologized for keeping the disease from them.

She then made her Instagram account private, but earlier this week returned it to public, and posted a photo of herself receiving chemo, along with the emotional message.

Lymphoma is a cancer that attacks the body’s lymph nodes. There are two types, Hodgkin and non-Hodgkin. Most cases are of the non-Hodgkin variety. Survival rates at stage 1 are very positive, with an over 90% success rate in treatment. However, the cancer can spread very quickly, through the lymphatic system. Stage 4 means that the cancer has spread to secondary organs, such as the lungs or brain. Survival rates for stage 4 for drop to 60%; however, being young and previously healthy contribute to a more positive outlook.

We wish Elyana a successful treatment and speedy recovery.
