Machete road rage incident caught on dash-cam, netizens seek justice

Another week, another road rage incident captured on a dashcam — terrifying drivers, passengers and netizens alike.

A Facebook user uploaded an incident earlier today that had occurred only yesterday between the driver of an unknown car, and a blue Honda Civic. In the one-minute and 23-second clip, both the driver and the passenger of the Civic are seen exiting the vehicle and menacingly approaching the other vehicle.

At first, they simply used obscene gestures to intimidate the other driver, returning to their car and driving a little further along the jammed road. Eventually they stop again, this time brandishing a parang (machete), and slamming it against the car windscreen.

Uploader Nabeel Naqie II compared the incident to another similar road rage case that occurred last month, where a motorbike rider attacked a woman’s car with his helmet, cracking the windscreen in a worrying attack.

Danial Abdullah Tan was found guilty of the attack, and sentenced to 12 months jail, along with an RM600 (US$150) fine.

“He [the parang attacker] is not throwing a helmet at the car windscreen. Instead, he took out a machete and slashed it against the car.

“His car plate number is also clearly recorded on video.

“Let’s see how the police will take action,” wrote an angered Nabeel.

No arrest has been made, although the other driver’s license plate is clearly visible in the recorded clip.
