Johor Ruler Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar, a man with a zero-tolerance policy for those seeking to create racial disharmony in his state, (preach!) has been extended a personal invitation to meet Pope Francis (aka the dope Pope) in Vatican City.

The Sultan was invited by Archbishop Joseph Salvador Marino, who is the Pope’s diplomatic representative in Malaysia, after a meeting between the two men.

Wait? The Holy See, the governing body of the world’s smallest country, The Vatican, has a representative in Malaysia?

Yes, they do. You can find the Apostolic Nunciature of the Holy See on Jalan Imbi. Apparently, we’ve had diplomatic relations since July 2011.

We love a good new fact!

Hungry for more Vatican curiosities? We went down this wormhole!

The two gentlemen met at Sultan Ibrahim’s Istana Pasir Pelangi yesterday, and his offical Facebook page reports that the meeting lasted 90 minutes.

Also present were Reverend Father Vjekoslav Holik, from the KL Apostolic Nunciature, as well as a local liaison officer, Vincent D’Silva, and the deputy Johor mufti, Datuk Yahya Ahmad.

Honestly, this sounds like a party we’d like to be invited to and while we understand that will probably never happen, can we at least know what snacks were served?

Thanks. And three cheers to harmonious, multi-cultural, and multi-religious living.
