An Iranian man claimed trial at the Sessions Court on Wednesday to two charges; one for planting eight ganja plants and the other for overstaying in Malaysia.
The 33-year-old businessman, Sharif Kazem Ahmad, is accused of having planted the ganja plants at the Villa Taman Tasik Condominium in Cheras, and was charged under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. If convicted, he will be jailed for life and get a minimum of six strokes of the rotan.
He is also accused of overstaying in Malaysia, at his condominium unit on 27 April.
According to The New Straits Times, judge Hasbi Hasan fixed 8 June for mention and document submission.
