UberEats GrabFood Food Panda Honestbee announced today that it would be suspending its online grocery and food delivery services in Malaysia as of this coming Monday, July 22. In May, the start-up announced that it would be stopping its food delivery service in Singapore.

Referring to the moves as a part of strategic review of their business practices, they called the move in Malaysia “temporary.”

An email sent out by the Malaysia division of the company says the call was made by their main office in Singapore in order to “reform the Honestbee business and come back to serve (customers) better in the future.”

Not to worry customers who have pending orders through the weekend: Orders made by Friday for weekend deliveries will be fulfilled.

“We are sorry for any inconvenience that we might cause, but worry not, we are already working hard to be back as soon as possible,” their email concluded.

One Subang-area business posted the letter in full, adding that the company owed them several thousands in unpaid dues.

Jibril Café, in the suburbs SS15 neighborhood, also mentioned that the service provider had been dodging their calls for months.

The move comes at a time when many changes at the service provider – in May of this year, their founder Joel Sng stepped down as CEO, being replaced by investor Brian Koo. Later that month, the suspension of food delivery and laundry service in Singapore was announced in the name of optimization.

The business to business modeled company had been operating in several countries including Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Japan, and Malaysia until earlier this year.
