Malaysian comedian Harith Iskander and Kavin Jay are set to make waves on the world’s most popular video-on-demand service, Netflix.
Harith’s special, named I Told You So is set to be released on January 19, while Kavin’s Everybody Calm Down! Will see global release on February 2nd.
Harith told media outlets that he was “delighted and honored to be the first comedian from Malaysia to be part of Netflix’s original production,” as well as bringing Asian stand-up comedy to the global stage.
Kavin added: “It feels like a dream, from watching my heroes on Netflix to having my own special, right alongside the greats. Someone pinch me.”
Harith came to global acclaim when he won the Funniest Person in the World competition in 2016. He classifies his comedy as observational and personal, without the use of shock tactics.
Kavin says that his comedy is influenced by legends Robin Williams, Chris Rock and Eddie Izzard.
