Last week, eight men were detained by counter-terrorism police after their “Islamic learning center” in Perlis was found to have links with extremist groups in Yemen, promoting the killing of non-Muslims and Muslims who do not follow their ways. Authorities allege that the men were planning on spreading Salafi Jihadi teachings in the Southeast Asian region, using Malaysia as their base.

Authorities have sent Louvier’s remains back to Perlis, where he will be buried in a Bukit Ketri cemetery.
