Former Umno chief tweets ‘one less slanderer’ after death of political foe

The tragic death of DAP assemblyman Eddie Ng early this morning as he drove from Kuala Lumpur to Kajang saw many condolences expressed from both sides of the political arena.

However, one Umno man, has only one thing to say: Good riddance to bad rubbish.

Yes, former Federal Territories Umno chief Razlan Rafii has one thing to say of the untimely death of his fellow politico, responding to a Tweet from the deputy International Trade and Industry minister, who tweeted of Ng’s passing. It went loosely along these lines:

“A person who likes to slander and possesses a ‘vile heart’ hati busuk towards Malaysians is dead. One less person who slanders! Malaysia is peaceful! RIP.”

Ng passed away at around 12.40am Friday morning. He was traveling along the Grand Saga Expressway headed to Kajang in a Nissan X-Trail car when he collided into the back of a lorry near KM11.7.

Many are disgusted by the former chief’s harsh words upon hearing the death of a fellow human being, regardless of political allegiance.

Twitter user @saiful_izzan wrote that the Prophet Muhammad always maintained that one should respect the remains of those from all faiths.

Even when the Prophet’s companion said that the remains were of a Jewish person, the Prophet replied “Is he not human? Don’t embarrass the race and religion on a Friday.”

As it were, today also happens to be Friday, a day when Muslims around the world gather together in congregations to pray and listen to sermons.

Another user wrote: “Our religion does not teach us to vent our anger against someone who is deceased. Set a good example.”

Umno has never been the classiest of acts: the former Tourism Minister found himself in hot water after he accused a nonagenarian billionaire in heated words of having “no balls” among other colorful language; they recently collected money for their “broke” former leader accused of siphoning millions, only to have his son catch a flight to Moscow to catch the World Cup Final; and just this week Umno MPs celebrated their first day back at work representing voters by staging a walkout.

Is this where the party will draw the line? Or will it just be another item of the list of appalling things done by representatives of the flailing party?
