Durian seller stabbed with screwdriver by three men in botched robbery

Would-be robbers stabbed a durian seller in Selayang, Kuala Lumpur yesterday outside of a used car shop. The incident occurred bright and early, at 7:30am.

Three men attacked the 23-year-year old man with a screwdriver. He had just left his nearby home carrying a bag that contained his earning from selling the fruit.

Video at the scene show the victim dazed but conscious, surrounded by onlookers, one of whom decided to film the events. Other clips show a suspect being restrained on the ground.

While the victim sustained multiple stab wounds in the attack, he also fought back long enough for bystanders to intervene. Several policemen witnessed the event; however, only one suspect was arrested at the scene.

The suspect is reported to be a 21-year-old Burmese refugee, who is now in police custody.

Having sustained five stab wounds, the victim was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he now reported to be in stable condition.
