A welder from Batu Pahat, Johor, has built himself a functioning motorcycle using the engine of a Nissan RB20. Abdul Rasid Ismail, 47, built the Franken-bike over the course of three months, with the help from his 21-year-old son, Amirul Azlan.
Abdul Rasid, who goes by the moniker Acid Welding, creatively took on the project after he failed to find a buyer for an old car. He told Harian Metro that the whole thing cost less than RM1,000 to build (US$250), as all of the parts were already accounted for, and he added a dash of ingenuity into the mix.
“I’m familiar with the RB280 engine, that’s why I have no problem turning it into a custom motorcycle, and displaying it at the 2017 Art of Speed convention at the end of this month in Serdang, Selangor.”
This will be his third showcase at Art of Speed, with him having modified over 10 motorcycles over the last four years.
The father of four has said that he’s imparted his knowledge to his eldest son, who helped him build the latest piece.
