Bride-to-be asks future husband for fishing rods as dowry

Fruit baskets, branded shoes and clothes? No, thanks.

An angler is so passionate about fishing, she reportedly asked her future husband to present her with fishing equipment as dowry.

According to a report by Berita Harian, which was translated by The Star Online, 28-year-old Siti Nadiah Mohd Rous said wedding gifts suce as chocolates, fruit baskets and leather shoes are becoming too common.

Instead, she wanted to ask for something different, something she knows she’ll love.

“So I suggested to my husband-to-be that he should get the rod and spool,” she was quoted by the Malay daily as saying.

Siti added that her husband-to-be was a little bit surprised by her request.

“He was surprised. But he agreed to it on condition that I would get him the same items,” she told Berita Harian.

According to Siti, both she and her husband-to-be share the same hobby, and he met her family for the first time at a fishing pond in Bagan Hailam, Klang, three years ago.

She added that their honeymoon in Koh Adang, Thailand, had included fishing activities.

Well, like they say; a couple who fishes together, stays together.
