Boy missing after falling into drain in Ampang

A boy reportedly died after falling into a drain during a heavy downpour in Ampang yesterday.

A report by the New Straits Times said the 10-year-old had fallen into the drain at Sekolah Agama Tasik Tambahan while it was raining.

The boy was reportedly playing with friends when the incident occurred.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant operations director Mohd Sani Harul told the daily that a passer-by had seen the boy being swept away by the water.

A distress call was made at 5.47pm, he was quoted as saying.

“We arrived several minutes later and a search and rescue effort was launched. As of now, we have yet to locate the victim. The operation is still ongoing,” he was quoted further.
