Bangsar ‘bomb scare’ turns out to be misplaced bag full of clothes

Police rushed to Jalan Terasek 8 in Bangsar today, after it was reported that a suspicious looking black bag had been left by the road unattended.

The New Straits Times reported that police cordoned off the area and sent its canine and bomb squads to ‘disarm’ the bag, fearing that it could possibly be an explosive.

A police spokesman quoted in the report, said the alert came in at 12pm and the canine and bomb squads were sent to check on the bag’s contents.

At 2.45pm, however, a woman had come forward to claim the duffel bag which, according to the report, was left there by mistake by her elderly mother and maid.

It was only after the commotion on the street across their house did they realise they had left the bag unattended, the NST reported.

City police chief Comm Amar Singh confirmed that nothing suspicious was found in the bag.

“There is nothing. This goes to show that we are extra alert. If there is anything we will check,” The Star Online quoted him as saying.
