WeChat: the app preferred by your mainland Chinese friends, pimps, mama-sans, hookers and their punters is developing quite the infamy in Malaysia.

Over the last year, several vice organization busts have come to light that were completely facilitated by the app.

The week, Terengganu police busted yet another WeChat sex syndicate at a Kuala Terengganu hotel at 12:30am, on Tuesday.

State police say that three local men, aged between 19 and 38 were arrested, along with an 18-year-old Vietnamese woman. Police have said that the woman had been trafficked into the country, and she is cooperating with their investigations.

The illicit group operated six separate WeChat accounts offering sex services throughout the city, and had been in town for less than a week. They had previously operated in Kedah, and Kuala Lumpur. Part of their operations involved moving frequently, staying only in town for one or two weeks, and then relocating elsewhere.

Terengganu police have added that they are getting with the times, and are now publicizing via Facebook the state’s most wanted individuals. They recently updated another 50 wanted individuals and are hoping that the public will assist them.

Over 20% of those they’re posted have been apprehended, and police say the program “will continue until [they] manage to solve all the cases involving the wanted individuals.”

So, if police keep updating their Facebook wanted list, we can expect this to go on forever.
