Actor’s wife detained for alleged involvement in human trafficking syndicate

The wife of a popular local actor was arrested last Tuesday for her alleged involvement in a human trafficking syndicate, according to a report by Bernama.

Deputy inspector-general of police Tan Sri Noor Rashid Ibrahim told the news agency that the 33-year-old woman was among 28 immigration department personnel picked up by the authorities during a special operation conducted in Putrajaya last week.

“They are suspected of falsifying documents to speed up entry of foreigners into the country without going through proper procedures,” he was quoted as saying.

Noor Rashid said the police are conducting further investigations to identify other individuals, including senior immigration officials, who might be involved.

All 28 suspects were reportedly detained under the Prevention of Crime Act (POCA) 1959.
