Hubba Hubba Gastro Bar is on the 1st floor of the Seni Mont Kiara Condominiums, you can’t miss the sweet pink sign.
There’s a certain rustic yet elegantly comfortable ambience about the place. Bottles of wine are displayed on a wide table and cabinet on one side with colorful storage boxes arranged neatly underneath the table – such a warm homely touch!
It also helps that the floor-to-ceiling windows provide some great views of the lush greenery outside and it felt like dining next to tree tops.
Besides listing a host of popular local and western favourites, the menu also highlights some age-old recipes with modern touches, blending the familiar with some interesting twists.
Take their signature Lamb Shank Pie, for example. Because serving lamb shank on its own was too mainstream, the chefs transformed and combined it with some pastry and so a unique pie was created. The fluffy puff pastry was a perfect cradle for the tender lamb shank fragranced with rosemary and red wine.
Another welcoming touch is Hubba Hubba’s “Create Your Own Salad” option. There’re more than 40 ingredients to choose from and a selection of 7 delicious sauces. One can really go overboard when selecting the items because everything seems so good – greens, fruits, nuts, beans, mushrooms, even grilled beef and chicken – take your pick!
The Soft Shell Crab Spaghetti is a big hit with diners. The surprise lies in the tangy tomyum paste used for the crabmeat and those crunchy soft shell crabs are just scrumptious.
Of course, a gastrobar won’t be complete without the ever-popular pizza and Hubba Hubba’s sole pizza – the Costiera Pizza is a clear favourite. It’s the ultimate seafood pizza indulgence, laden with squids, prawns, mussels, roasted peppers, tomato and mozzarella.
Hubba Hubba Mont Kiara does very well where home-style comfort food is concerned. Their Mutton Varuval, Kampung Fried Rice and addictive Popcorn Chicken are good at any time of the day. The tender mutton cubes of the Mutton Varuval have been lovingly cooked in Indian spices and served with chapatti.
The Spicy Kampung Fried Rice has lots of crunchy ikan bilis topped with a fried egg and a crispy chicken wing with a fiery sambal belacan to boot.
For a neighbourhood cafe/gastrobar, Hubba Hubba Mont Kiara provides a quiet and relaxed environment for some good dining. Its good selection of wine and liquor together with well-executed dishes makes this a perfect chill-out place.
