This coffee shop in Kelantan sells RM1 meals

In this day and age, what can RM1 get you? In the city, it could buy you two trips to the public toilet. But in a small town in Kelantan, it could buy you a very nice meal.

Despite the rising cost of living, the Pak Yeh coffee shop located in Kampung Bendang Kerian in Kelantan is still selling rice and side dishes for a mere RM1.

Harian Metro reported that the owner of the coffee shop, 69-year-old Idris Awang, said despite the low menu price, he could still make a profit.

“When I first started this business 30 years ago, I sold rice with chicken or fish for only 30 sen,” he told the daily.

“Since then the price was gradually increased to RM1 following the rising cost of raw materials.”

Idris also added that his coffee shop, which opens as early as 7.30am, attracted people from all walks of life.
