Woman claims hospital didn’t release one of her newborn twins, Komnas PA fears child trafficking

Raudiah Elva Ningsih, 37, claims she never met one of her newborn twin babies after she gave birth to them on May 8.

Raudiah said she gave birth at a hospital, identified by the initials HJ, which is located in the Cakung district of East Jakarta.

Accompanied by the National Commission for the Protection of Children (Komnas PA), Raudiah is still seeking answers about the whereabouts of one of her babies.

“This woman claims she has a pair of twin babies, even the ultrasound results say so. But the fact is she only received one baby and the team of doctors [at HJ] say she only had one baby and the other was actually a large amniotic sac,” said Komnas PA head commissioner Arist Merdeka Sirait in a press conference yesterday, as quoted by Okezone.

“I suspect there’s a baby trafficking syndicate.”

Raudiah also said she already demanded to see her other baby to the hospital’s doctors and executives, with ultrasound results from other hospitals backing up her claim. However, she said the doctor who delivered her babies, identified as Z, ignored the ultrasound.

“I said, doc, look at this [ultrasound] but he said there’s no need to resort to that,” Raudiah said.

According to Raudiah, the doctor then threatened Raudiah not to get the police involved or they would also report her to the police.

Komnas PA is now backing Raudiah and pledged to offer her legal support. The hospital has not yet made a public statement.
