We’ve seen a lot of strange things on the streets of Indonesia but never a car as singularly strange as this double-sided oddity recently spotted in Bandung, West Java.

Photos of the orange two-faced car, which appears to be based on a Toyota sedan and features a seemingly identical pair of front grills,  headlights and sideview mirrors, have been circulating on Whatsapp and social media, and today the Bandung police confirmed that the car is real and that they’ve already ticketed the owner because the custom creation violates the law.

Tak Laik Jalan, Mobil Bermuka Dua Ditilang Polisi

“It is true that there is a unique car that we happened upon yesterday and ticketed,” Bandung Traffic Police Chief Agung Reza told Detik via SMS. He said the car violated two articles of the 2009 law on vehicle roadworthiness, including a requirment that cars feature all of the proper safety signals.

Given that police have determined that the vehicle is unfit for Indonesia’s roads, there’s a chance we may never see it again, which would be a crying shame because we’re insanely curious to find out why the owner would buy or create such a two-faced car. Was it simply to win a custom car contest, or perhaps it’s because they’re a supervillain that’s had half of their face horribly scarred by acid? Whatever the answer, we need to know.

Update: Apparently it was made for a car customization contest and it even features two steering wheels and two engines!
