Pocongs are probably the most popular kind of ghost in Indonesia (depending on your definition of the word popular). Wrapped from head to toe in their burial shrouds, they occupy an odd area in the Indonesian psyche, being both frightening because of their undead nature and funny because, well, they have to hop around to chase you.

It is this odd duality that has allowed the pocong to become both a horror icon and a comedy character.

And now, it has also become a comfortable, cute and incredibly creepy body pillow that is the talk of the Indonesian interwebs. The Facebook photo below, posted by user Aidil Riena Full, is an advertisement which says he is selling the pocong pillows, made by a Thai company Herehokhokhok (หมอนเหี้ย), to people in Indonesia. It says the 2 meter version sells for MYR220 (US$52) and the 2.5 meter version for MYR280 and includes the line “Now you never have to sleep without somebody else ever again”.

We’re guessing sales have been pretty good since the post, which went up on Sunday, has already been shared over 7,200 times and earned nearly 3,000 comments, most of them expressing their desire for a pocong pillow of their own.

Herehokhokhok also sells a wide variety of other unusual body pillows, such as these adorable giant lizards and other horror icons.

  1. Pretty sure you meant “Malaysian”netizens. Indonesians don’t use RM as their currency.
