VIRAL: FB post praising facilities at Community Health Center in Kebon Jeruk becomes hugely popular

It’s probably an indication of how bad the average government-run medical facilities in Indonesia is that people are getting this excited over one well-run clinic.

On October 10, Facebook user Destri Ana shared photos from her recent visit to the Puskesmas (Community Health Center) in Kebon Jeruk, West Jakarta, along with a long description of why this particular Puskesmas is so fantastic and better than any other government-run clinics she’s been to.

In her post, which has been shared over 11,000 times at the time of writing, Destri Ana wrote that she last visited the Puskesmas in 2013. She went back recently to take her son for an x-ray after he swallowed a battery. She was surprised that the Puskesmas had undergone a complete transformation since 2013, now having the same standards as some of the best hospitals in the city.

Among the facilities that Destri Ana listed as impressing her were free Wi-Fi, a computerized queuing system, mobile phone charging stations and clean toilets. She also noted that the service was quick and the employees and medical professionals were very friendly, and that her bill was much cheaper than if she had gone to a hospital.

Speaking to Kompas, Puskesmas Kebon Jeruk’s head of the Legal and Public Relations Department, Marzunanta, said that they owe it to the public to keep standards at the Puskesmas high.

“But we always say to our employees not to be satisfied, don’t be arrogant, and be humble. We must always increase the quality of our service,” he said, as quoted by Kompas today.

And, in case you’re wondering, Destri Ana said that doctors were able to take the battery out of her son.
