Jakartans should all be well aware of the ‘jockey 3-in-1’ – those people who make money by hopping into strangers’ cars so that the driver can take specific roads that can only legally be used by cars with a minimum of three people inside during rush hour.
One of those jockeys, an 18-year old woman identified by police by as SM, says she was picked up by two foreigners near Senayan City yesterday afternoon.
Instead of driving into a 3-in-1 zone, SM says the foreigners took her to the basement parking lot at Lippo Mall in Kemang where they allegedly raped her.
“Yesterday afternoon [SM] was picked up in an APV with two black men inside. [They thought] the victim was a prostitute hanging out on the side of the street,” said South Jakarta Metro Police spokesman Purwanta, as quoted by Okezone today.
SM says that the suspects released her after the assault, after which she reported the crime to the police.
It’s unclear how the police came to the conclusion that the suspects thought SM was a prostitute, nor did they reveal any other evidence from the crime.
The police are still searching for the two suspects, whose identities remain unknown. Meanwhile, police says SM will undergo medical tests at the Kramat Jati National Police Hospital to verify her claims.
