TV One station in East Jakarta receives bomb threat from self-proclaimed Islamic radical

Indonesian news channel TV One’s station in Cakung, East Jakarta received a bomb threat from an unknown caller yesterday evening.

As reported in Okezone, the call came in at 7:52 pm and was received by a security officer of the station. The caller, who claimed to be a representative of an Islamic radical group, told the security officer that a bomb was already placed inside the TV One station.

The station’s employees were then evacuated as the Jakarta Metro Police arrived with a bomb squad.

Thankfully, there was no sign of explosives being planted in the building.

“We swept the area and found nothing suspicious,” said AKBP Sapta Maulana, head of the Crime Investigation Unit at the East Jakarta Police, as quoted by Detik.

Sapta added that the employees were allowed to return to work as normal.

The police have not determined if the bomb threat was a legitimate terror attempt or if it was just an ill-advised prank.
