There’s a fine line between love and hate: Fadli Zon asks for Jokowi’s autograph (photo)

Ever since this year’s presidential elections, there has been a lot of bad blood between the PDI-P led Indonesia Hebat coalition (KIH) and the Merah Putih coalition of political parties (KMP). As such, it’s understandable that Fadli Zon, Prabowo’s right hand man, would not look too favorably towards President Joko Widodo.

Fadli Zon, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives from the Gerindra party, has been vocal in criticizing Jokowi every step of the way. Just last week, he criticized Jokowi’s plan to have his ministerial candidates vetted by the Corruption Eradication Comission (KPK), because, you know, why would we want a clean government?

But that doesn’t mean the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives is not appreciative of Indonesia’s historical moments. For Fadli, Jokowi making it on the cover of Time is definitely a momentous occasion, so he just had to get his enemy’s autograph:

Yesterday at the State Palace, I asked Jokowi to sign the Time magazine. This belongs in the archives of the nation’s history
This photo begs the question, have the KIH and the KMP really kissed and made up? Maybe the government and the opposition are ready to work hand in hand for the good of the country? Perhaps we’re too optimistic. Some people took this as an opportunity to call Fadli on his hypocrisy:

He knows no shame. He usually criticizes [Jokowi] but now he wants his autograph

Is Fadli Zon genuinely curating items significant to the nation’s history? The signed magazine could be on Tokobagus by now, for all we know.
On to more pressing matters, don’t you think Jokowi is already showing signs of balding? Stress has been known to cause hair loss. We imagine Jokowi’ll be wearing his peci a lot more often over the next five years.
