That’s Not a Drive-Thru: Woman runs her car into side of McDonald’s Kemang

A woman ran her car into the smoking room of the McDonalds on Jalan Kemang Raya in Mampang, South Jakarta last night, damaging the building and injuring three people.

Instagram user Muhammad Ruri post a picture of the aftermath to his account. In the photo, you can see a seriously dented door frame, tables and chairs strewn about and lots of broken glass.

“Collision at McDonald Kemang, a caucasian female driver (I guess from Latin America) crashed into the glass smoking room 12 hours earlier, while I happened to be there. Three people were lightly injured. Once seen the riders admitted she was “high”. The authorities arrived at the scene,” he wrote in the photo’s description.

South Jakarta Metro Police Inspector Bakti Butar-Butar gave the media a slightly different version of the incident, which he says occurred at around 11:30 pm. The driver, a 26-year-old woman named Hamidha Hashim, was allegedly sleepy when she got into the accident.

The incident was witnessed by a restaurant security guide named Djunaidi. He agreed with the police chronology of events.

“According to witnesses, the perpetrator was driving herself and her car ws going towards the Drive-Thru,” Bakti said when contacted by Kompas.

He said Hamidha was driving a Daihatsu Terios automatic transmission and that she hit the gas instead of the breaks while heading towards the McDonalds Drive-Thru, causing her to  run into the smoking room.

The three customers sitting in the room were obviously shocked by the crash and all received light injuries, including one who went to the Jakarta Medical Center to have her abrasions treated.

The car also hit a few motorcycles that were parked around the restaurant. Bakti said Dhani’s lawyer had already come to the restaurant to pay for his clients damages. It is not yet clear what crimes, if any, the police will charge Dhani with.
