Suspected pedophile in Tebet lured kids with small change, allegedly molested 16 boys

The police recently arrested a 28-year-old Tebet resident by the initials of HAN who is suspected of molesting 16 underage boys in the district over a two-year time span starting in 2014.

“The suspect tricked [his victims] by promising them pocket money to buy snacks,” said Tebet Police Chief Nurdin Arrahman, as quoted by Okezone today.

Nurdin said HAN would usually lures the small boys with Rp 2,000-5,000 and then promised them more money if they would come play at his house.

“The suspect then gave Rp 10,000 to his victims after molesting them and he threatened them not to tell anybody,” he said.

Despite the threat, the police said four of the boys eventually told their parents, who then reported HAN to the police.

The police say that HAN often sexually abused his victims when he was home alone, as his wife works as a domestic helper. It is believed that HAN himself was a victim of sexual abuse as a child.

HAN could be sentenced up to 15 years in prison for his crimes. Earlier this year the government passed into law chemical castration as punishment for pedophiles, but it’s not clear if HAN’s case would be covered by the new law.
