Last Friday, Anton Siringgo Ringo and Septian Romi squared off in a title fight at the Jambi Provincial Games (Porpov), but the fight will probably forever be remembered for the chaos that ensued right after the match ended — a mass brawl incited by a cornerman going above and beyond the call of duty.
As shown in this iNews news report, the referee had just temporarily broken up the fighters when Ringo (red) threw a sucker punch at Romi — who was listening to instructions from his corner at the time — knocking him down.
Then, Romi’s cornerman climbed into the ring, ran towards Ringo and pulled off a flying dragon kick (00:19), which, as incredible as it looked, didn’t seem to hurt the fighter.
That kick triggered even more chaos as more members of Romi’s team climbed in to try to get at Ringo. Luckily, bout officials managed to shield the fighter and eventually diffused the conflict.
Romi getting unfairly knocked down resulted in the referee awarding him the match after he disqualified Ringo for punching his opponent before getting the signal to resume the bout.
“The decision was accepted by both parties. The medal was already awarded [to Romi],” match official Naikman Malau told Tribun.
Thankfully, there were no reports of anyone sustaining injuries during the chaotic brawl.
