A sip of this coffee may wake you up, but not in the way you might expect. In the case of this blend, you might feel a different kind of a hard morning, if you know what we mean.

The Food and Drugs Monitoring Agency (BPOM) has warned the public about a coffee brand that contains chemicals used to treat erectile disfunction.

The agency said it found the brand being sold in the West Java cities Bogor and Bandung, with two people arrested under suspicion of distributing the product.

“The coffee contained medical chemicals, namely sildenafil and paracetamol,” BPOM Head Penny K Lukito said during a press conference today.

Sildenafil is a chemical ingredient found in Pfizer’s Viagra, which is used to treat erectile dysfunction.

When consumed without medical approval, Penny warned that not only could sildenafil damage reproductive organs, it can also cause a host of heart problems.

Penny added that the coffee product in question features a fake BPOM approval stamp.

All being said, “Viagra” coffee has actually been around for years in Indonesia. In fact, a quick Google search would lead to several brands of the product being sold via popular online marketplaces. It should go without saying, but we suppose it would be remiss of us if we didn’t warn you not to consume the product for reasons BPOM stated above.
