Starbucks in Thamrin reopens just 18 days after terrorist attack

The deadly terrorist attack in Thamrin, Central Jakarta killed four innocent people and left the city stunned. One of the locations hit by the terrorists’ explosives was the iconic Starbucks located in the Skyline building. Starbucks temporarily closed all of its venues in Central Jakarta due to safety concerns, but reopened them soon after. However, the Skyline location remained closed.

Until today that is.

Some might say it’s too soon, but we applaud Starbucks for quickly renovating the cafe and getting it reopened just 18 days after the attacks. It’s a true example of the #KamiTidakTakut (#WeAreNotAfraid) spirit that united Jakartans in the wake of the attack.

We plan on visiting the location soon to order a venti mocha Frappucino (out of respect, and because we’ve already given up on our New Year’s diet resolutions). How about you?
