Dangdut singer Saipul Jamil was brought in to the Kelapa Gading precinct today after being accused of molesting a 17-year-old boy identified as DS.
Jakarta Metro Police Spokesman Mohammad Iqbal confirmed the accusation towards Saipul.
“There was a report about accusation of molestation towards a minor. It supposedly happened in Kelapa Gading,” Iqbal told reporters today, as quoted by Okezone.
As DS told the police, he met Saipul some time ago after he attended a dangdut talent search competition as an audience member. Saipul then allegedly forced DS to spend several nights at his house in Kelapa Gading, where he coerced DS give him massages and unspecified sexual acts.
DS said he immediately went to the police this morning as soon as Saipul allowed him to leave his house.
The police have not yet officially arrested or announced criminal charges against Saipul Jamil.
Sadly, without any concrete evidence that these accusations are true, this news is already being used as ammunition by a lot anti-LGBT people to spread even more hate online. Many are commenting that this is proof that being gay is intrinsically linked with pedophilia.
Can those people seriously not remember the innumerable examples of heterosexuals in Indonesia sexually abusing people, including children? Anybody who uses examples of pedohilia to reject LGBT individuals would have to reject heterosexuality by the same logic.
