Police arrest two for murder of Bogor hardline group member in June

The Bogor police yesterday finally arrested two suspects in the shooting of a member of hardline group in Bogor during Ramadan.

The two suspects, identified by the police as 25-year-old Agus and 28-year-old Frangki, were arrested in Lebak, Banten, after being on the run for more than one month.

On June 28, the victim, who was a member of the “Islamic” hardline group Benteng Bogor Raya (BBR) by the name of Ahmad Suhendar, was among several other BBR members who carried out a “morality raid” on a kost (boarding house) to clamp down on premarital sex during the holy month of Ramadan.

It was then that one of the suspects – though it wasn’t specified which one – pulled out a gun and shot Ahmad point blank in the face, killing him instantly, before they both ran away.

West Java Police Spokesman Grand Commissioner Yusri Yunus told Warta Kota that the motive for the murder isn’t entirely clear yet, but there is indication that the two suspects did not take kindly to BBR’s raid on the kost.

The two suspects are still being investigated and it’s not yet known what charges they would face.
