Either heads will roll at the Bogor City Police or hackers will be blamed, as an investigation is underway after the station’s official Twitter account was caught liking a post from a pornographic account.

Over the weekend, a screenshot circulated widely showing the department’s likes feed, which features a sensual clip from an account whose handle contains an Indonesian slang word that suggests it catered to those with predilection toward minors.

Bogor City Police Chief Susatyo Purnomo told reporters yesterday that the department is conducting an internal investigation into the matter.

“Everyone will be investigated, including the [social media] admin and the devices used. We will also audit our cyber security,” he said, the latter point suggesting that police are also exploring the possibility that the account was hacked.

“We thank netizens for their attention to the issue, and we apologize for the unrest this has caused in the virtual world.”

The liked post no longer appears on the department’s feed as of this article’s publication.

The chief did not say what sanctions the admin would face if evidence point to the social media admin being solely responsible. Conversely, if this was indeed the work of hackers, the department said it would pursue the people responsible and bring them to justice for violating the law and cultural norms.
