A video is being widely circulated online today showing what appears to be at least three online motorcycle taxi drivers physically abusing a passenger.

Based on the events in the video, it appears that the passenger had just gotten on the motorcycle of a GrabBike driver he had ordered. He was then approached by other drivers (judging by their uniforms, one drives for Go-Jek while the other two drive for GrabBike) who seemed very upset that the passenger had allegedly cancelled his ride orders for them. The drivers then physically assaulted the passenger, with one driver landing a particularly hard punch on the passenger’s face.

The identities of the passenger and drivers are currently unknown.

Grab Indonesia has issued a statement that they are carrying out an investigation into the video, and promised harsh sanctions against the drivers if proven guilty.

“The harsh sanctions for partner drivers who violate our ethics code may include temporary suspension or even termination,” said Grab Indonesia Country Marketing Director Mediko Azwar, as quoted by Detik today.

Grab Indonesia did not say whether or not they would hand over the drivers to the police.

The ride-hailing app company also made unflattering headlines yesterday when the company said they would investigate allegations that one of their drivers had tried to pay a passenger for sex.

Meanwhile, Go-Jek has not issued a statement regarding the video.
