The once infamous nightlife scene in North and West Jakarta have become tamer in recent years following the closure of Stadium and several other nightclubs of ill repute, but that certainly doesn’t mean that shocking things don’t occasionally take place around those still standing.

Police say that one man was killed and four others (including one woman) were wounded outside of Bandara discotheque (as nightclubs are still anachronistically referred to by the Indonesian media) on Jalan Daan Mogot in Kebon Jeruk, West Jakarta, early this morning.

According to the police, the men had been involved in a clash with another group just in front of Bandara. The 38-year-old who was killed, identified by police by his initials HS, died from multiple stab wounds. The other four injured received stab wounds as well and are currently in intensive care at Royal Taruma Hospital and Sumber Waras Hospital.

Kebun Jeruk police chief Marbun said they were still investigating the incident and didn’t name any possible suspects.

“We are focused on pursuing the murder suspects, and there have been several witnesses we have already examined,” Marbun told PosKota News.
