An Indomaret minimarket on Jalan Raden Sanim, Beji, Depok, partly collapsed yesterday afternoon. One woman was injured from the incident.

Fathiyah Fitriani is an employee at the minimarket and witnessed the roof and the facade of the building come down.

“It all happened so suddenly, we were so shocked. The customers inside weren’t affected. A woman who sold drinks in front of the store was buried under the rubble. She was taken to the hospital,” she said, as quoted by Vivanews yesterday.

There hasn’t been any update on the victim’s condition.

The police have yet to officially determine the cause of the building’s collapse.

“After investigating the scene and questioning witnesses, it is suspected that a pillar crumbled so the building couldn’t sustain its own weight. We’re still looking into whether this was a case of negligence or not,” said Beji Police Chief Ni Gusti Ayu.

The collapsed building also damaged four motorcycles that were parked in front of the minimarket at the time.
