Locals rescue newborn baby found buried alive in septic tank in West Java (VIDEO)

It’s not year clear the circumstances that led somebody to bury an innocent newborn baby boy inside the unused septic tank of an abandoned house in Gantar Village in Indramayu, West Java. But we can be grateful that local resident heard the baby’s cries and were able to rescue him before it was too late.

Video of the dramatic rescue, which took place on Sunday, was posted to Facebook by user Virzi Brisnay on Tuesday and quickly went viral, being shared over 100,000 times.

“We heard crying. Some other residents and I were able to enter the area around the empty house, it turned out there was a baby there, not wearing anything,” Ajay, one resident of the area, told Liputan 6.

According to Ajay, once the baby was uncovered they saw he had an injury on the right side of his head. The rotting placenta from his birth was also laying next to him.

Ajay and the others immediately took the baby to the village’s midwife to be examined, and then to the local hospital.

Indramayu Police Chief Arif Fajarudin said the baby was OK but was still receiving intensive care after his ordeal. He also said that police officers were still investigating the case and had done a crime scene examination of the abandoned house to see if they could find any clues as to who could have buried the child. Arif said they would also do DNA tests in an effort to find the culprit.
