Lad mag model Anggita Sari arrested for drugs, says she took them to help her sleep

Anggita Sari, who regularly models for men’s magazines like Popular, was arrested yesterday in her Bintaro home during a drug bust by the police.

Vivick Tanjung, head of South Jakarta Police’s Drugs Investigation Agency, said they found 55 pills and tablets of various types of psychotropics during their raid of Anggita’s house.

“After conducting a urine test, it turned out the suspect tested positive for three kinds of narcotics: methamphetamine, amphetamine, and benzodiazepines,” Vivick said, as quoted by Tempo yesterday.

To the police, Anggita confessed to possession and use of narcotics. She said she used them to help her sleep, but neither her nor her family were able to produce Anggita’s medical history or any drug prescription to combat insomnia.

Anggita is now under the custody of the South Jakarta Police. She and her family have requested that she be put under drug rehabilitation.

Arrested drug users in Indonesia, particularly celebrities and public figures, are usually sent to rehab and do not have to serve any jail time. Punishments for drug traffickers are much more severe and may include the death penalty.

Coincidentally, Anggita had a romantic history with Indonesian drug kingpin Freddy Budiman, who was executed by the state for drug trafficking in August.
