Jakarta now has a new meme icon after a man brought together the capital’s love for motorcycles with his love of dance.

Recently, a video of a driver standing on his moving motorcycle while doing the swim dance to his heart’s content went viral on social media in Indonesia. Obviously, the video instantly became a popular meme, with creative netizens adding their own music tracks, but our favorite has to be this one with its impeccably synchronized to a funkot (short for funky Kota, a high BPM dangdut and house fusion popular in shady Kota nightclubs) remix of a J-Pop tune:

All silliness aside though, the motorcyclist could’ve put himself and others in danger (did you notice other motorcyclists using one hand to film him groovin’ on their phones?). On their official Instagram account, the Jakarta Metro Police’s Traffic Management Center (TMC Polda Metro) today posted photos of the motorcyclist being summoned to a police station for violating the law on reckless driving.

Even so, in his confession to the police, the motorcyclist, identified as Sakhiun from North Jakarta, admitted that he’s somewhat of a serial motorcycle dancer.

“He has done this six times, he wants to be famous and to entertain. He has been told not to do it again by the police,” Tamansari Police Chief Erick Frendiz told Kompas, adding that the video was taken in the Glodok neighborhood of Tamansari, West Jakarta.

“When I was young, I was a racer. I liked to freestyle. So many people like to film me, and the dance is entertaining for them,” Sakhiun told the Tamansari Police.

Well, it looks like Sakhiun’s dreams of fame have come through, though it remains to be seen if it’ll last for 15 minutes or longer. And though his actions were potentially punishable by three months’ imprisonment and a fine of IDR750K (US$54.41), the police decided to let him off with a just a warning for now
