A father and his two children were killed in what appears to have been a horrific traffic accident in the North Sumatra capital of Medan yesterday.
A video has been circulating online showing CCTV footage of the traffic accident, which took place at the Jalan Amal intersection in Medan on Sunday morning. The video shows a truck failing to stop at a red light, running over several motorcycles and their drivers that were waiting at the intersection.

Local police said three people died: a 44-year-old man and two children, aged 13 and 8.
“The deceased victims were a family,” said Medan Police Traffic Department head Indra Warman, as quoted by Viva yesterday.
In addition, six more were injured in the incident, with three who suffered minor injuries having already been discharged by the hospital, while the other three are still being treated.

Authorities suspect that the truck didn’t stop at the intersection due to brake failure. The driver has been detained for questioning, but the police did not carry out a urine test on the driver as they have ruled out the possibility that he was driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
