Depok police confiscate 505 alcoholic drinks from nightclubs in Ramadan raid

The Depok Police, including the Satpol PP unit, conducted a Ramadan raid on several entertainment venues in Depok last night.

They managed to confiscate 505 bottles of various alcoholic drinks from two nightclubs, one in Sukmajaya and one in Cimanggis.

“We had to act assertively. We confiscated all the alcohol there. The result was we confiscated 505 bottles of alcoholic drinks of all types and sizes. Next, the owners [of the nightclubs] will be interrogated,” said Depok Police Chief Dwiyono, as quoted by Vivanews today.

The Depok city administration previously issued Ramadan regulations prohibiting nightclubs, karaoke bars, and other forms of evening entertainment from operating during Ramadan.

It’s all well and good that they confiscated all that alcohol out of respect for Ramadan, but we hope the alcohol can be put to better use than being smashed just for a media photo op.
