The relationships between people and their in-laws can often be rocky, but this particular relationship between a woman and her daughter-in-law is beyond reprehensible.
The Depok Police on Wednesday arrested Nuraini, a 45-year-old mami (female pimp), who allegedly prostituted four teenage girls out of an apartment in Margonda, Depok.
Nuraini admitted to the police that she charged Rp 300 thousand to Rp 1 million for her girls.
Nuraini mostly employed school dropouts. Shockingly, according to Police Commissioner Teguh Nugroho, head of the Depok Police Crime Investigation Unit, Nuraini also prostituted her pregnant teen daughter-in-law.
“Her daughter-in-law is just 16 years old,” Teguh said, as quoted by Tempo yesterday.
Nuraini denied that her daughter-in-law is also one of her prostitutes. She claims that her daughter-in-law just happened to be with her at the time of her arrest.
But then again, she also denied that she pimped out her prostitutes, saying that they were the ones who came to her looking for work.
Earlier this month, the Depok Police also arrested another mami, DA, for prostituting underage teen girls. They believe DA and Nurani’s operations were somehow linked.
It’s not yet known what criminal charges Nuraini will face.
