It’s really odd how in Jakarta vehicles are expected to give way to a convoy of people escorting a dead body to the cemetery, yet many refuse to make room on the road for ambulances that are carrying people in need of emergency medical attention.

A white Toyota Avanza became the victim of such a convoy after the convoy’s members accused the driver of not giving way to let them pass.

According to Detik, the convoy, made up mostly of motorcyclists, stopped the car on Jalan Casablanca Raya, in front of Kota Kasablanka mall at 12:45 pm today. Ten of the motorcyclists then got off their vehicles and attacked the car.

The assailants reportedly banged on the car repeatedly for around 15 minutes until one of them jumped on the car and smashed its windshield with a kick. The convoy then continued their journey to the Menteng Pulo cemetery, presumably around 15 minutes behind schedule through no one’s fault but their own.

The car’s driver, who didn’t disclose his name, remained in the car for the duration of the attack. He said he already gave way for the convoy but his car was attacked anyway. He drove straight to a police station following the attack to report the incident.
