Prolonged heavy rain fell on Jakarta this morning, inundating parts of the capital while it’s still reeling from the New Year’s Eve flooding catastrophe.
Based on early reports, North Jakarta and Central Jakarta are the two worst hit municipalities with a number of heavily flooded roads. Below are photos and videos from official accounts reporting floods throughout the capital:

The Greater Jakarta Area, as well as parts of Banten and West Java, saw the most intense rainfall since 2007 on New Year’s Eve, which continued well into New Year’s Day. According to data from the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB), 67 people were killed by floods and landslides while tens of thousands were evacuated from their homes.
