Given Indonesia’s incredibly harsh drug laws, it’s no surprise that drug dealers would go to extreme lengths to avoid the law. That is allegedly what happened to a man named Aldi who police say died yesterday after jumping from the 10th floor of the Seasons City Apartment building in North Jakarta when authorities raided his apartment in search of illegal narcotics..

“So it’s true, the reports of officers uncovering the presence of marijuana and methamphetamine narcotics at Seasons City Apartments, where the main suspect jumped from the 10th floor and died at the location,” Jakarta Police spokesman Argo Yuwono told Detik today.

According to police, the incident occurred yesterday at around 6:30 pm and began with the arrest of a woman, identified as Bela Ainun, in one of the apartment’s elevators. Officers allegedly found her with several packets of methamphetamines and marijuana.

Bela told the officers that she had gotten the narcotics from her boyfriend, Aldi, who lived in an adjacent apartment to hers.

When police arrived at Aldi’s apartment, he was hiding on the balcony. He then attempted to escape by climbing a ledge to an adjacent unit’s balcony but ended up slipping. He fell from the 10th floor to the 7th floor and died at the scene.

Police are still investigating the case to find out who else was involved in the narcotics distribution network.
