Just around a week before the Eid holiday, low-cost airline AirAsia has expanded its passenger capacity from Indonesia by increasing flight frequency as well as reactivating 11 international routes connecting more cities in Indonesia with Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and Australia.

The reactivation of these 11 international routes raises the total number of AirAsia flights from and to Indonesia to 17 in total, operated by AirAsia Indonesia (flight code QZ), AirAsia Malaysia (AK), and AirAsia Thailand (FD). The routes are:

  • Jakarta-Bangkok
  • Jakarta-Singapore
  • Medan-KL
  • Medan-Penang
  • Yogyakarta-KL
  • Surabaya-Johor Bahru
  • Surabaya-Penang
  • Bali-Singapore
  • Bali-Perth
  • Makassar- KL
  • Lombok – KL

The airline will also increase flight frequencies for international routes that are already in service, such as Jakarta-KL, Jakarta-Penang, Bali-Bangkok, and Bali-KL.

Meanwhile, the airline will continue to fly between Jakarta-Johor Bahru three times a week and between Surabaya-KL 14 times a week. More information about AirAsia’s international routes from and to Indonesia can be found here.

Additionally, AirAsia currently operates 12 domestic routes in Indonesia.

In a statement released today, AirAsia Indonesia president director Veranita Yosephine said that the relaxation of international travel requirements, such as the elimination of quarantine for fully vaccinated and boosted travelers, and the reactivation of a number of international airports, have significantly boosted demand for travel to Indonesia.

“In response to this, the AirAsia airline group is eager to strengthen its connectivity in indonesia by increasing flight frequency and reactivation of 11 international routes, which will significantly increase the capacity of AirAsia’s total available seats from and to Indonesia to more than 48 thousand seats per week,” Veranita said.

Tickets for the aforementioned AirAsia flights can be booked through AirAsia Super App, AirAsia’s official website, or your go-to online travel booking platforms, among others.

If you’re planning to fly this coming holiday season, don’t forget to check the travel requirements of your destination countries. If you’re coming from other countries, requirements for international travel to Indonesia can be found here.
