Ahok gets unlikely support from FPI in plan to tear down Kalijodo red-light district

Has the world turned upside down?

Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama is getting the unlikeliest of support from his perennial foes, the “Islamic” hardline group Islamic Defenders Front (FPI), for his plans to tear down the infamous Kalijodo red-light district.

“Good. Let Ahok take care of it first so that he can get rid of that low level prostitution den,” said Habib Novel Bamukmin, general secretary of the Jakarta FPI Syuro Council, as quoted by Vivanews today.

Despite both parties seemingly being interested in a common goal, Habib warned that the FPI still wouldn’t stand for Ahok’s liberal view on regulated prostitution.

“He (Ahok) better not make an official prostitution place [after evicting Kalijodo]. The FPI will get involved if that’s the case,” he said.

Well, the FPI won’t have a thing to worry about there, since Ahok said he wants to turn Kalijodo into a banana garden.

Of course, the FPI might very well oppose that too since the banana closely resembles a certain part of male anatomy. There’s just no pleasing them sometimes.
