For the past year, Depok has been one of the worst hit satellite cities by motorcycle robbers. Many of the incidents have involved violence and have ended with tragic results.
The latest motorcycle robbery claimed the life of 3-year-old Aditya Revan.
Aditya was riding on a motorcycle driven by his aunt Desi yesterday. They were stopped by a group of men on motorcycles as they were passing Kampung Kebayunan Tapos.
“They (the culprits) snatched my daughter’s wallet and then pushed them (Desi and Aditya) into a canal. My grandson’s head hit the edge of the canal wall,” said Dudung, Aditya’s grandfather, as quoted by Vivanews yesterday.
Sadly, Aditya died immediately after his head hit the concrete. Desi survived the plunge into the canal, and is now being treated at the Sentra Medika Depok Hospital.
The police have not yet identified the robbers.
“Our family hopes the culprits would be punished accordingly,” Dudung said.
