A 7-year-old girl from Tapos, Depok, was allegedly sexually assaulted by three boys, aged 5, 9 and 11 on July 1.
Aminah, the victim’s neighbor, confirmed the incident.
“The victim was brought to play and then was forced to commit those adult acts [by the three boys],” Aminah told Tempo yesterday.
The girl is an orphan who lives with her grandparents in Depok.
The three boys are actually the girl’s neighbors. The girl’s cousin, 7-year-old FT, actually witnessed the incident and told the boys to stop. But FT was powerless to stop the boys and then ran to tell her grandma what she saw.
The grandma then rescued the girl and reported the incident to the Depok Police’s Child Protection Unit on July 3. The victim was medically examined at the Kramat Jati Police Hospital on July 6, but the grandma is lamenting the fact that the investigation into the case has been painfully slow.
“We’re still waiting on the medical test results. The reason [for the delay] is because it was done right before Lebaran [holiday],” the unnamed grandma said.
“I hope the police can swiftly investigate this case.”
Police Commissioner Teguh Nugroho, head of the Crime Investigation Unit at the Depok Police, said the families of the three boys will be brought in for questioning on Saturday.
“It happened when they were playing doctor. The case is being handled in accordance to the Child Protection Laws because the suspects are only aged 5, 9, and 11,” he said.
